Most FPL mini leagues start the season the same way.
There is a league table, a WhatsApp group and plenty of noise around the opening gameweeks.
Then something happens.
A few managers pull away at the top. Someone forgets a deadline. A couple of teams stop getting updated. And somewhere around October or November, half the league starts paying a lot less attention.
The WhatsApp group still wakes up when somebody has a disaster, but for a lot of managers there is not much left to actually play for.

Divisions
For larger leagues, managers can compete in divisions with promotion and relegation.
That means someone sitting well outside the overall title race could still be chasing promotion.
Another manager might be desperately trying to avoid the drop.
The point is simple.
More managers have something to play for, for longer.
Weekly and monthly awards
Not everyone is going to win the league.
But anyone can have the best score this week.
Or win Manager of the Month.
Or pull off the best chip.
Or have the kind of gameweek that earns them bragging rights until the next deadline.
Small competitions give people reasons to keep setting their team even when the overall title has gone.
